The ARK Auction was an immense success! Here is the art project the Maple room made as our contribution. THANK YOU to the parents who made this possible!
Who has spirit? We do! We had a fun week dressing up to show our school spirit and pride. Thank you to Ms. Shanena who is our wonderful classroom photographer!
Tuesday was TWIN DAY!
Friday was crazy hat, hair and make-up day!
We had some mischievous leprechauns visit our classroom throughout the week, so the only option was to try and catch them last night! Unfortunately, no one seemed to be able to catch tricksters :)
What a fun week! Stop by the cafeteria to see the school wide reading chain that we put together this morning at the assembly. We sure read a lot of books!
We started the week off reading with our Big Buddies in the gym.
On Tuesday we travelled to various parts of campus and read different books at each spot.
On Wednesday the entire school met on the blacktop to read poetry with one another.
On Thursday, 1st grade switched places with the 5th graders and read in Ms. Gravis' room. 5th grade must be fun, because they didn't want to leave!
Friday was the big day! Green eggs and ham were enjoyed in the morning, and then TK-3rd went to three different classrooms to read Dr. Seuss books and participate in activities. 1st grade got to make hats, masks and their own zoo beast from "If I Ran the Zoo". Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!
Well, we had quite the adventure in San Francisco yesterday! The kids were such troopers - really demonstrating their ability to be flexible and good sports even when things do not go as planned. THANK YOU to the amazing parents who were stuck along with us, I owe you big time!
The exhibits inside the Exploratorium were awesome! They gave everyone an opportunity to explore a variety of science concepts in a hands on, engaging format. The sound and light portions of the museum were perfect for our current science unit. See the pictures below!
Our field trip is next WEDNESDAY, 2/22. Please be to school ON TIME! We need to leave as soon as possible.
Friday, February 3rd is our 100th Day of school. All students are invited to create a 100’s day project at home to be displayed in the cafeteria. Ideas include: 100 lego pieces, 100 cotton balls, 100 stickers, 100 shells…
*Students can display items in a jar or make a structure or scene.
*Have fun counting by groups of ten! It would be great to addthe equation to go with their display.
*This is a great way to show us addition and multiplication!
Please bring your project to the cafeteria before school and remember to pick it up after school.
Thank you so much for all of your WONDERFUL and delicious contributions to our Friendship Feast, it was a definite success! The kids had so much fun hanging out with the Kindergarteners and enjoying the time with each other.
Thank you Katie for bring all of the things needed to make our individual pumpkin pie rolls! The kids had so much fun seeing a whole roasted pumpkin and making their own filling.
Big shout out to Ms. Shanena for doing the honors of carving the "turkey" (which may have actually been a chicken)! It was no small feat. Thank you Kandi for supplying them!
Welcome to First Grade! This site will be used as a means of communication for our entire class community. I will post all of the Maple Leaf Updates (weekly newsletter) here, in addition to sending a paper copy home. The blog will keep you up to date on current class activities and happenings, and hopefully will include some photos!
